Dreams to Reality -- Blog #4

Teamwork

Teamwork is very crucial! It can provide many advantages as well as some disadvantages. We all know the saying; “teamwork makes the dream work!” and I really believe and strive from that statement itself. So, I’ll be discussing all the pros and good deeds working as a team brings first.

Every team is influenced by not only their leaders, but everyone contributes in their own way. That’s where the separation is created between the team that constantly wins and their opponents! An important pro I noticed in the first article is “working as a team builds stronger professional relationships…” that way if one teammate ever slips up someone has their back with follow up points because they think alike, and the other teammate may see what that teammate missed or forgot! This allowing that bond to be created and builds that strong friendship on and off the clock needed while sharing work objectives, goals, and work ethics! This causing the team to be more effective and better chance at being successful.

One important con that I noticed in the future of working site was, “it poses the risk of having a free rider in the group.” I like the word selected by the author to describe the one who gets their way just by being involved with a teams group work… every team or group has that one individual who likes to get credit when they did nothing to benefit the team as a unit; just agreed or disagreed with the majority. Playing that role for a business will only last so long and always, always, eventually catches up by affecting the company negatively during the biggest stages. When a team or their opponent doesn’t have every participant and asset of the team active doing their part leads to certain key players or individuals to enjoy working alone for that tough task a team is always needed for!

But in the first article it also states and is very true, “the truth is that within a work environment it’s important to be comfortable working both alone and within a team.” As you’ll for sure be asked this the question of “do you work well with a team or better/prefer alone?” during almost all job interviews!

I want to close this very great topic with ‘The power of collaboration speaks for itself’… in the book I’ve been reading this summer it mentions how vital that extra person or third person alongside that one best friend we all have always is. I’ve definitely noticed different wonders it does from the difference of two minds and also even four (which may be one too many sometimes). Our minds can literally go off the energy of the next persons thoughts or feelings. This always benefits that group, team, or business for the better!
