Informative VS Persuasive Speaking -- Blog #3

Public communication in general is a great tool for businesses today in 2023. Its not always about informing customers, but its sometimes about asking or convincing that specific topic or deal being offered today. That’s why we have persuasive speaking alongside the informative speaking model. Here’s the difference between the two forms of speaking.

Informative speaking is more earnest and/or consequential with rules and regulations. More likely to have dress code for attending this meeting. Tone is more direct to the point of the message. This normally used by an older adult, parent, or person holding the seniority at a job!

While persuasive speaking is more significantly used with family talk… things like what’s for dinner or what movie for the night. With persuasive speaking its less mandatory dress code; your presences are all that’s needed, maybe recommended but not required! Persuasive speaking can be seen more in day-to-day life as not everybody can deal with constant, nonstop informative speaking. Persuasive speaking can even be seen by a stranger trying to persuade another for some assistance anywhere and everywhere!

Therefore, try being persuasive more often than informative… Never think one is too good or better than the next as we are all humans, we make mistakes, and we also ultimately come from the same place. That’s why persuasive speaking can do wonders and be just as vital as informative speaking depending on whom and what the situation is. Both can be very effective in their own way!
